Alfa-X, world’s fastest bullet train projected to hit speeds of up to 249mph!! Superfast bullet train that rivals airplane flying times set to debut in Japan. Passengers will be able to travel 680 miles, between Tokyo and Sapporo, in less than four hours. The $91 million test train has 10 cars and is driven by powerful electric motors in the first and the last cars that draw their power from overhead wires. Alfa-X is equipped with aerodynamic “drag plates” for emergency air-braking at high speeds, as well as electro-magnetic brakes on the wheels. To cope with massive wind resistance when entering tunnels, the Alfa-X’s first car will mostly be a sleek nose, measuring 22 meters. These trains will utilize IoT, big data, AI and other technologies to advance new concepts in development.
