Job Description

Verizon Network Systems team is looking for a senior Full Stack JAVA Developer in The Fiber Store team. As senior developer, you will be responsible for the design and development of enterprise grade web application that will serve the data to peering IT applications via REST APIs and user interface.

This application will serve as a single source of blended data for various fiber based products like FiOS, Ethernet, Private IP, Internet, 5G and so on to enable sales, marketing teams and business analytics team generate intelligent sales leads to increase penetration of fiber assets & grow revenue.

As an API lead you will be carrying out JAVA REST API design & implementation. Interface with peering applications like SFDC / Optix to define interface contracts. Address urgent issues, guide and drive developers to integrate securely with REST services. Perform code reviews, prioritize enhancements, estimation, scheduling. Support hotfixes, represent requirement calls with business team.
You will be peering with business SMEs to understand the functional domain and apply your technical knowledge to design database model for consumption layer served by Postgres and NoSQL databases like SOLR, Elasticsearch. You will develop technical design document of security compliant solution including visio diagram, process flow, business rules, database design, REST API contracts and other relevant details. You will be developing JAVA based frontend and backend services to serve modern responsive UI that suits the needs of sales & marketing teams.
You will also need to have experience in troubleshooting high traffic frontend and backend systems to determine the root cause of latency and be able to fix those issues. You would be expected to know the internals behind how web traffic flows from the web server to the backend, how a page is rendered, the various elements such as DNS, connect/wait/load times, SSL issues and be able to troubleshoot what is causing slow performance.
This is a role for a highly skilled full stack developer with a strong background and knowledge in system issues, frontend and backend troubleshooting.
Leadership qualities and prior leadership experience as a technical leader is required for this position. You will be expected to leverage your leadership experience in setting the charter for the junior developers on the team, managing the individual projects and forming strategic partnerships with peer IT teams & business SMEs.
Design and development of a high traffic, distributed, resilient, modern web application framework
Experience in UI/UX concepts and design.
Identify and fix issues with scalability, latency, throughput and bottlenecks.
Logging and monitoring setup, be able to analyze logs, identify trends and analytics and use that to drive root cause analysis.
Provide oversight & code review for junior full stack JAVA developers
Deploy and orchestrate Docker and Kubernetes containers on a Cloud platform.
Employ DevOps and agile principles; utilize Jira, Jenkins and Ansible to enable CI / CD of various cloud applications.
Provide technical leadership to the team to manage multiple high priority projects in several niche technologies.
Troubleshoot and resolve QA & Production issue with urgency
Provide extended support during release weekends.

You will need to have:
Bachelors degree in computer science / related field with 6 or more years of work experience.
6 or more years of experience in building full stack JAVA web applications using HTML5, CSS3, REST APIs, AngularJS/Angular 2.0 or greater, NodeJS, JavaScript, IDEs, Spring/Spring Boot, JSON
2 or more years of experience with relational database - Oracle, PostgreSQL
2 or more years of experience with NoSQL database - SOLR, ElasticSearch
6 or more years of strong development experience delivering strategic programs.
CI/CD pipeline development and deployment experience (Jenkins, Ansible).
Even better if you have:
A degree or Masters degree in one of the following: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Technology, and/or other relevant field of study.
Experience with Python or any other scripting language.
Experience with BASH shell scripting or Perl scripting.
DevOps container and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Puppet, Chef).
Knowledge of AWS and experience architecting and developing on AWS.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple products across the organization.
Experience multitasking multiple high priority objectives.
Experience with Automation Anywhere for RPAs or Chatbots.
AWS certifications.
